Artist's Comments

My versatile cat, Squeak, makes yet another appearance in my gallery this time in the guise of a ruthless nocturnal hunter. This is about as far as can possibly be from his actual persona of sleeping 18 hours a day, purring, and rolling around on the floor.

i love this. it's just stunning. in so many ways. i could stare at it for hours. i love the colour and the detail of the grass, you can see the blades and grains.. and i love the dark colours, it's almost haunting. but i especially love squeak. he looks evil, like he's out hunting, and if you get in his way, he'll claw you. those eyes just stare straight through you. i just love it. and i must say, you've done a good job with the image.. amazing work! instant :+fav: if ever i had one

When he's really only from my backyard. It's fun being able to invent new realities with a camera.

Wow! Stunning.
How much editing did you do? Did you play with saturation of the eyes?

Amazing focus - something I can never seem to get when taking photos of my cat!
:icondisgracian:
The original photo came out very underexposed so I desaturated the image, fiddled with the levels and then bled a pale blue back into it to simulate moonlight. As for the eyes, that was just a matter of copying them and piling Colour Dodge layers upon each other until they were bright enough. After that it was just some fiddling with sharpness, a noise filter and some cropping.

As for the focus, he just obligingly wandered into my focal range while I was playing with it, so I took a snap.
