...outweigh the needs of the few.

Nothing embodies this concept like the humble bee, or ant and suchlike. They work solely for the good of the collective at the expense of themselves. Somewhere towards the opposite end of the spectrum are humans. In accordance with the teachings of Buddha, the true path is found by avoiding either extreme. The principle of the needs of the few rings just as true for us as for the bees, but not at the expense of our individuality.

Free health care for all!

great clarity, i love the fuzzy bits on this little guy (he is actually cute for a bee). i also really like the veins in his wings, they're just still enough that you've got them perfectly in focus. health for all, indeed. let it bee.

Digging in! The details such as the pollen gathered on his/her hind legs and the veins on the wings are amazing! Cute little critters indeed!

That would be a female. In most insect kingdoms, the males sit at home all day while the females do all the work, only to rouse for breeding. This behaviour is often repeated in humans too, it seems. :D
